Configure SSO authentication Schemes in Apex
    Wednesday, January 10, 2007
    Register for R12 upgrade
Final bit to configure Oracle SSO with Apex/HTMLDB application is to create New Authentication Scheme as "Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On (Application Express Engine as Partner App)"

    For previous steps visit
    http://becomeappsdba.blogspot.com/2007/01/configure-sso-for-apex-application.html
    and then
    http://becomeappsdba.blogspot.com/2007/01/apex-apps-configure-sso-ii.html

I assume you have configured/Installed SSO with Apex, now login to apex application against which you want to use SSO authentication scheme.

Apex/HTMLDB is all GUI (Graphical User Interface) so you can configure/define new authentication scheme in Apex very easily.

On browser type URL http :// servername / pls/ apex
Enter your Worspace Name, UserName & password and you will see below screen

    Click on Application builder

On this screen click on Shared component of Apex Application and it will take you to shared component.
As we are interested in Security component (Authentication) so click on "Authentication Scheme" , you will be in Authentication Schemes page of Oarcle Apex / HTMLDB

From here click on "Create" button. After few screens you have to select Oracle Application server Single Sign-On (Application Express Engine as Partner Application)

Now use this authentication scheme in your application .

    Apex Apps configure SSO II
    Tuesday, January 09, 2007
    Register for R12 upgrade
    Lets continue with yesterday's post
    http://becomeappsdba.blogspot.com/2007/01/configure-sso-for-apex-application.html

Make sure you have configured Partner Application in Single Sign-On Server as mentioned in previous post.
    Unlock flows.... schema
SQL> alter user flows_020200 account unlock; (If your Apex version is 2.0.0.0.0 change acccordingly)

    Login to Middle tier $ORACLE_HOME/sso/lib
    unzip ssosdk902.zip
This will create packages directory & respective sql scripts in this directory connect as database user flows_020200 & execute loadsdk.sql
SQL>@loadsdk.sql (Make sure you are executing under schema flows_XXXX) This will load software development kit for sso server

Now register sso details in Apex Schema (flows_XXX)
    SQL> @regapp.sql
    It will prompt you for
Enter value for listener_token: Enter any distinct name like Apex:host_name:port
    Enter value for site_id: enter_value_returned_while_registering_sso
    Enter value for site_token: enter_value_returned_while_registering_sso
    Enter value for login_url: http: // apex_url_here/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
    Enter value for encryption_key: enter_value_returned_while_registering_sso
    Enter value for ip_check: N

Now configure authentication packages under flows_XXX schema

    SQL> @custom_auth_sso.sql
    SQL> @custom_auth_sso.plb

Finally lock flows_XXXX schema & grant execute permission to public user
    SQL> alter user flows_020200 account unlock;
    SQL> grant execute on wwv_flow_custom_auth_sso to APEX_PUBLIC_USER;

Finally in Apex Application, create new authentication scheme (SSO with Apex as partner Application) instead of local database authentication in Apex Application.

    configuration steps are mentioned at
    http://becomeappsdba.blogspot.com/2007/01/configure-sso-authentication-schemes-in.html

    Configure SSO for Apex Application
    Monday, January 08, 2007
    Register for R12 upgrade
Sometime back I discussed about Apex (earlier HTMLDB) Installation, Click Here to know more about apex Installation . Today I am going to cover how to configure Single Sign-On for Apex Applications. If you are new to Oracle SSO (Single Sign-On) and want to know more about Oracle SSO Click Here for Overview of Oracle SSO

There are mainly three major steps in configuring Apex / HTMLDB
--Register Apex as Partner Application in SSO Server
--Install SSO SDK on Apex Server
--Register SSO details on Apex Middle Tier

    Assumptions in below configuration
Below configuration is based on following assumptions, You may need to change things as per your apex/sso version.

-- Apex version discussed below is for 2.0.2.0.0 (Change schema name flows_020200 according to your version)
-- Apex is installed on 10g AS , if you don't see ssosdk902.zip then get it from 10g AS middle tier -- You have access to Oracle SSO Server with Admin privileges (orcladmin) account
--You have access to schema under which Apex was installed , In my discussion below database schema name for Apex is "apex"
-- URL to access Apex Application is http: // apex_server_name/pls/apex

Configure Apex as Partner application in Oracle SSO Server

Type URL as http: // ssoserver.com/pls/orasso & login as orcladmin, you will see screen like

Click on SSO Server Administration & then you will get Administration Screen

Under that click on "Administer Partner Application "

    Click on Add Partner Application

You will come to Partner application Login Screen enter following details & click on "OK"

    Name : SSO Apex
    HOME URL : http: // apex_server_name/pls/apex
    Success URL : http: // apex_server_name/pls/apex/wwv_flow_custom_auth_sso.process_success
    Log Out URL : http: // apex_server_name/pls/apex/apex

and click on OK, you will get screen with values like ID, Token, Encryption Key, Login URL, Single Sign-Off URL ... Keep a note of these values as these will be used during Apex Registration process in Next Steps

Remaining Steps: Installing SSO SDK in Apex & Registering Apex with SSO Partner Application created above coming in Next Topic ...

Install Apex (Application Express) Formerly HTMLDB
    Friday, November 10, 2006
    Register for R12 upgrade
Some time ago I read a post about HTMLDB at Vidya Bala's Blog She has mentioned nice description about HTMLDB & Installing HTMLDB 2.0. You can check her post at Install HTMLDB 2.0

Now HTMLDB is called as Application Express or more commonly as Apex. Latest Apex Version is 2.2 and today I'll quickly cover Installation of Apex Version 2.2. You can find Installation Document and software at end of this post.

    Requirement:
In order to install Apex (Former HTMLDB) ver 2.2 you should have
--Application Server Version 1.0.2.2 or higher
--Database should be version 9.2.0.3 or higher
--Disk Space around 500 MB on middle tier (Application Server)
--Tablespace (in which you will install Apex ) with around 100MB free space
--System tablespace with around 85 MB free space
--Database shared pool size should be 100MB or more

    Tablespaces:
At time of Apex installation it asks for tablespace for user data & tablespace for Apex files. You can use existing single tablespace for both or can create these two tablespace. For better understanding I will create two tablespace one for User data & other for Apex files.

    Assumptions
Below Apex 2.2 Installation steps are of Database version 10.2.X and application server version 10.1.2.0.2 (There might be minor changes on other database or application server version)

    Pre Installation Configuration
Login to database and create two tablespace

    create tablespace tsapexf datafile '/$datafile_location/tsapexf01.dbf' size 50M autoextend on next 10M maxsize 300M;

    create tablespace tsapexu datafile '/$datafile_location/tsapexu01.dbf' size 50M autoextend on next 10M maxsize 300M;
These tablespaces we are going to use during Apex Installation

    Loading Apex into Database

    Login to middle tier(Application Server) & download Apex 2.2 software from location mentioned at end of this post (software is with name apex_2.2.zip);
Copy it to location where you want to install Apex on Middle tier ; assume its /u01/dev
unzip software as ; unzip apex_2.2.zip
This will craete a subdirectory with name apex ; cd apex
sqlplus system@tns_alias as sysdba (From middle tier connect to database as sysdba)
    @apexins.sql {passwd} {ts for user} {ts for files} {ts for temp} /i/ {connect_info}

    Where
passwd - Password for Apex Super User
ts for user - Tablespace for User data (Created above)
ts for files - Tablespace for Apex files (Created above)
ts for temp - temporary tablespace (Usually Temp)
i - is the alias for image directory configuration in Application Server (Apache httpd.conf)
connect info - TNS Alias to connect to database from middle Tier

    @apexins.sql mypasswd tsapexu tsapexf temp /i/ tns_alias

This step will take 1-2 hours depending on server configuration

    Configure Apex at Middle Tier
    (Application Server)
    Create a file marvel.conf in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/conf

Replace ORACLE_HOME, hostname, port number, service_name, and apex_public_user_password with values appropriate for your environment.

    #########

    Alias /i/ "/u01/dev/apex/images/"

    AddType text/xml xbl
    AddType text/x-component htc

    Order deny,allow
    PlsqlDocumentPath docs
    AllowOverride None
    PlsqlDocumentProcedure wwv_flow_file_manager.process_download
    PlsqlDatabaseConnectString hostname.domainname:db_port:SID ServiceNameFormat
    PlsqlNLSLanguage AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8
    PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
    SetHandler pls_handler
    PlsqlDocumentTablename wwv_flow_file_objects$
    PlsqlDatabaseUsername APEX_PUBLIC_USER
    PlsqlDefaultPage apex
    PlsqlDatabasePassword password
    Allow from all

    #######

include marvel.conf in httpd.conf like below so that it can be invoked each time Apache(Web Server) Starts

    include "/replace_this_with_oracle_home/Apache/modplsql/conf/marvel.conf"

Update this configuration change in DCM repository (This step is required only on 10g Application Server, Skip this if you are configuring it with Apps 11i or standalone HTTP Server)

Make sure Alias /i/ "/u01/dev/apex/images/" this alias in marvel.conf is pointing to right apex images directory

    Post Installation Steps
    dcmctl updateconfig -ct ohs
opmnctl restartproc ias-component=HTTP_Server (Restart HTTP Server to check it)

Now try access application via URL
    http://hostname.domainname:port/pls/apex

    Software & Related Document
You can find Apex Software Version 2.2 at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html

How to configure Apex or HTMLDB applications with SSO Server coming soon ....
