Do i need to buy license for Red hat Linux?

CentOS works just fine. I have now 10G database and application on two different notebooks. Next time I will use WMware on CentOS to install RAC on one + Application on another PC.

Hi Atul,

As Redhat ES 3 is not freeware, can i use CentOS 3.9 version for Oracle RAC implementation.
Do i need to install RPM's as specified in this web site.....
If yes will i find same RPM's name in CentOS as you specified for Redhat ES 3 version.

Thanks Kamal, Yes You can use fedora. Check o.s. patches and kernel setting w.r.t. Fedora in RAC Intallation guide mentioned above

1) I downloaded enterprise linux (X86) from oracle e-delivery website. Can I used this as a OS instead of redhat linux enterprise edition ?

2) I have a CENTOS software, Can I use their either?

RAC installation..but my certification is on 9i OCP ..
i want to go with RAC certification can u help me..A Good cheap institute where i can learn RAC, i Have basic knowledge of RAC and participated in RAC installtion in my company (new Delhi)...

Suggest for my future What should i do next..should i go for APP DBA . OR RAC certification..

Great site.... i am in the process of installing RAC on Linux ES5 on my laptop. I had on question in mind. Does the RAC setup using VMWare requires 4 GB RAM or is 2 GB sufficient.

HI Atul,
I saw umpteen number of fabulous comments. Hats off to your work.

I am working on RAC setup on Windows these dayz to test our product. However, I have few queries:

1) Do i need to create Voting Disk partition and OCR partition on every node in the cluster? As per my understanding, it is only required on the shared storage machine. Please correct me if i am wrong.

2) How do i establish a connection between the shared storage and the clustered nodes? Host file entry?
