If you have not read my previous post about printers basics , I'll suggest you to first read & understand basic terminology in Configuring Apps Printer like Printer Type, Style, Driver at http://becomeappsdba.blogspot.com/2006/09/printer-basics-in-oracle-apps-11i.html
How to Register Printer in Oracle Apps ?
First Printer which you want to configure should be able to print at Operating System Level from Concurrent Manager Machine.
You can issue lp command. Don't proceed until you can print via Operating System command lp from CM node. Once printer is configured at O.S. Level , ask Unix System administrator name with which they have configured printer at O.S. Level.
Collect printer type information, it should be like HP , APPLE , EPSON ...
 Login to Oracle Applications with System Administrator Responsibility & click on Install -> Printer -> Register then under Printer Tab enter name by which printer is defined at CM node at O.S. Level. In Type define type of printer like HP , EPSON , APPLE. In Description enter some sensible description . This completes registration of your printer on your Oracle Application.
Now test this printer by submitting some request & selecting recently configured printer & you should be able to print.
There are two other printing options in oracle apps using PASTA & XML . If I get request on printing using PASTA utility or XML utility then I'll discuss them in future .

Could you please post a script to do massive change of printer names in Oracle Applications? If you don't have a ready one, do you have any ideas of how to write a script to do massive change of printer names?

On this script could you please confirm that you have lets say 100 printers configured against production now in Test/UAT after cloning you want to change these printer name from backend sql scripts ??

i have the following requerment, i have apps 11.5.10.2 installed on Unix server and the customer need to add printer but he dont want to manage the printer from unix is there a way to do so (not define the printer on unix and in the same time let the apps print on it)
i mean to be able to print on the client machine printer (no printer will be define at the Apps server)
any hint will be helpful

Fadi, in that case you can't print from concurrent request screen. What you can do a work around is view output of report and from file menu give print out to any printer on desktop , this is something like printing from client machine and not via apps.
In order to print report via apps (CM) printer should be defined at O.S. level on CM node and then defined in Apps.

I saw your post on Configuring Printer and I am having HP LaserJet 8100 Series PCL 6 and i tried to use "--PASTA Universal Printer Type" .
I am not getting any printouts although log file shows it has been printed...
and i only see following printer types when i try to Install->Printer->Register->
